PSYCHOTHERAPY & CLINICAL MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING
According to the American Counseling Association: "Counselors work with clients on strategies to overcome obstacles and personal challenges that they are facing."
The terms "Psychotherapy" and "Clinical Mental Health Counseling" are practically identical. The terms are often used interchangeably. The main difference is that "Psychotherapy" is generally thought of as a more long-term treatment that aims at gaining more insight into someone’s problems, while "Counseling" is a brief treatment that targets a specific symptom or situation. Whether your concerns are simple or complex, whether you need shorter or more long-term treatment, I am committed to helping you work through your obstacles.
I utilize a integrated approach, which incorporates several methods depending on the client's needs and goals. In order to assist clients with their specific issues I utilize Existential Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Counseling, Reality Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and a Client-Centered approach.
My main areas of focus are Trauma and Substance Abuse, but I also have experience working with clients dealing with grief, anxiety, depression, and other serious mental health issues.
